FAQ

Q: What does “Boister” even mean?

A: “Boister” is a made up word that was born from a typo. Several years ago, our founder was the head of marketing at an organization that was contemplating reorganizing marketing and communications resources. She wrote a 15-page impassioned plan, complete with several options for budget-friendly ways to ensure all aspects of communication were covered. In her frenzy, a slip of the mouse inadvertently deleted the “ous” from the word “boisterous” in the document. Luckily, she caught the mistake but thought “boister” would be a charming word to describe “just shy of boisterous” – a great concept for what marketing and communications should be. Messages should stand out and be noticed, but not annoyingly loud or “boisterous.” Careful proofreading remains a top priority for Boister!

Q: What is your pricing?

A: Pricing varies greatly based on the specific mix and duration of services needed. For example, more favorable per-item pricing would apply for a commitment of 12 blog posts versus individual blog requests. We can create a “mix and match” package for organizations that need a little bit of a few different things. We’ll be happy to create a no-obligation price quote once we know a little more about what you need.

Q: Where can I see some work samples?

A: As a consulting group, it’s imperative that we honor our clients’ confidentiality and ensure their materials don’t fall into competitors’ hands! We are delighted to privately send you samples of our work once we know more about your unique needs. We can also provide references any time.

Q: What industries does Boister serve?

A: While Boister has primarily served the healthcare and health tech industry, we’ve helped lots of small businesses find their voice. We’ve provided services for a financial coach, an arts management company, and even a hockey podcaster!

Q: Do you use AI to write your content?

A: The short answer is “no.” In our experience, while AI can generate content that’s decently written and makes sense, it doesn’t display an inherent understanding of brand voice or targeted audience. We want your materials to sound like you, and we want your audience to feel a personal connection to your words. We admit–we’ve used AI from time to time to jumpstart a new idea, but all our written materials are written by people and customized for your audience.

Q: I don’t see what I need listed under your service. Can you still help me?

A: Let’s find out! Contact us with your questions. If we can’t help you, we probably know someone who can.

Q: Can I be part of the Boister team?

A: We love partnering with marketing, communications, public relations, and graphic design people! If you have experience in these areas and want to be part of the Boister squad, drop us a line! We’d love to hear from you and see if it’s a good fit.
